How to Operate and Reserve an Action Track Chair

Track Chairs at Maybury State Park

If you, or someone you know, has difficulty enjoying Maybury State Park because of mobility issues, we now have two Action Track Chairs available to reserve. A guide is highly recommended for first-time users to show you how to properly operate the Track Chair and safely share the trails with other park visitors.

These battery-powered Track Chairs can easily handle woodland trails, snow, sand, and up to six inches of water. The chair is operated by a joystick, or if desired, can be operated remotely by your guide or a companion.

You can reserve an Action Track Chair (or both chairs) at no cost by calling the park office at 248-349-8390, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. If you request a guide, a member of the Friends of Maybury who is knowledgeable about natural features and park history will meet you at the park headquarters building at your reserved time. Each hike will last for 1-2 hours based on your desire and will utilize both paved and unpaved trails.

Guided track chair hikes are generally offered May through October. Hikes are weather-dependent and might start earlier than May and might be available into November. It’s best to provide a couple of different day and time options for when you will be available to reserve the chair.
