Our Winter Hike Leader Training equips you with skills to guide hikes and foster appreciation for nature. \nThe event will start with a short (approx 15 min) talk\, followed by a short hike. Potential hike routes include a 1 1/2 mile paved trail\, and a 2 mile unpaved trail.  Routes may vary due to trail conditions and volunteer availability. \n\nDates: December 6th at 1 pm and January 9th at 10 am\nLocation: Maybury State Park\, Trailhead Building\n\nYour leadership helps inspire a love for the outdoors and supports our mission to enhance the public’s experience at Maybury State Park. \nClick here to Register:  Winter Hike Leader Training  \nParticipating in the training doesn’t obligate you to lead a hike. Come to the training and enjoy a walk and opportunity to talk with an experienced volunteer to learn if leading or assisting a leader at a hike is a good fit for you. \nHazards: You may encounter uneven surfaces with mud\, snow or ice. \nWhat to bring: Water and your desire to share nature with others \nWhat to wear: Dress for the weather\, this event is 100% outdoors. Appropriate footwear is essential. You may encounter uneven surfaces with mud\, snow or ice. \nRestrooms: Available at/near trailhead building \nWeather Cancelation: Event will happen rain or shine. SUMMARY:New Year's Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us in starting the New Year off on the right foot!  Meet at the Trailhead Building (8 Mile Entrance) for the 10 am guided hikes.  No registration is required. \nA hike (approx. 1.5 miles on paved trails) will be offered for those desiring a shorter hike and ideal for families. A longer hike (2-3 miles) will be offered for those looking to hike a longer distance.  Routes subject to change according to trail/weather conditions. \nAll ages welcome. All dogs need to be on a 6 ft. leash.  Bundle up and join in the fun. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time of the hike. \nPlease see the Volunteer Page if you are interested in helping with this hike. (Volunteer Link will be available closer to the date of this event) \nProgram is free.  All vehicles entering the park require a Recreation Pass.  The Recreation Pass can be purchased at any state park office during regular business hours (8 am – 4:30 pm) \, at Maybury State Park’s self-serve kiosk just past the entrance booth on the right and when renewing your license plate tabs with the Secretary of State.  For further information on recreation passes\, visit www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport
