The Friends of Maybury State Park originally formed in 1996 to support Maybury State Park through volunteerism and financial assistance with corporate grants, donations, and membership dues. We work side by side with Maybury State Park staff to create an enjoyable, accessible, and safe environment for all visitors. The Friends of Maybury State Park is run entirely by volunteers. Some of the following examples show how our hard work and support can be found throughout the park.
- Host a variety of hikes, educational, nature, history programs and special events
- Improve facilities
- Maintain trails, raising trail beds, and eliminating erosion issues
- Improve natural areas by removing invasives such as garlic mustard
- Encourage volunteerism by having open monthly meetings and partnering with other groups (company volunteer groups, community organizations, schools, Boy/Girls scouts, and more)
- Support Eagle Scout projects
- Serve in many ways to enhance the recreation opportunities at Maybury State Park for the enjoyment of all guests
